DVM, Owner and Practice Administrator
Dr. Rachel Fernung, B.S., DVM
Dr. Fernung grew up on a small farm in Kokomo, IN and graduated from Western High School. She received her bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and continued on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue in 2004. She began her career at Tri-County and worked as a mixed animal practitioner from 2004-2020. She played a large role in developing a second clinic location in Frankfort in the fall of 2008. She now focuses just on small animal care and is the operating owner of Tri-County Veterinary Clinic. She has a special interest in ophthalmology, dentistry and internal medicine. Dr. Fernung has a soft spot for Golden Retrievers, especially her own: Juneau. She also has 3 "misfit" kitties, with her favorite being her one-eyed fur baby, "Titten"

Lead Associate DVM​
Dr. Taylor Michel, B.S., DVM
Dr. Taylor graduated from Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. She grew up in Central Michigan on a dairy farm! Dr. Taylor grew up raising several species, including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses. Dr. Taylor and her husband, Seth, currently have a black lab, Apollo, an Austrailian Shepherd, Marvin, and 2 rescue kitties, Loki and Cleo. She spends her time outside of work reading, running, doing agility with Marvin, and spending quality time with family. She looks forward to caring for your fur family here at Tri-County Veterinary Clinic!

Urgent Care DVM
Dr. Erica Childress, B.S., DVM
Dr. Erica Childress is a Central Indiana native. She attended Purdue University as an undergraduate, and received her DVM from Purdue in 2008. In addition to working at Tri-County Veterinary Clinic, she has worked as an emergency clinician at Purdue’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the critical care department. She lives with her husband, three children and her shepherd mix Susie, the World’s Best Dog.

Accounting Liasion
Janice Burgin
Janice has been married to her husband John since 1975, and together they have raised 5 children! They currently have 10 grandchildren. Janice and John enjoy the company of their outdoor cats. Janice worked for Dr. Hiland for 6 years prior to Dr. Fernung taking ownership of Town and Country Veterinary Clinic. and has been working for them ever since! Janice prides herself in connections with others, and is meticulous with her work as accounting and inventory manager. You can usually find Janice working behind the scenes with a smile on her face!

Accounting and Administrative Assistant
Denny Fernung
Denny began his journey with Tri-County Veterinary Clinic in 2006, after teaching for 18 years and owning a florist business for 20 years. After retiring from TCVC a few years ago, he has now returned to work in the accounting department. Denny lives on the farm he grew up on. Although he never imagined that he would return to farm life, he and his family did return to the farm and he has developed an unending love for the farm. He feels blessed that his 3 children were able to grow up and experience and appreciate the farm as well. He has 2 indoor kitties, 3 kitties that live in the old florist shop, and several barn kitties. Although he is not involved in the day to day operation of the clinic, He deeply appreciates the passion, love and care that the doctors an staff exhibit to the patients and their owners.

A.S., RVT, Director of Operations
Catie Burns
Catie graduated in August of 2014 from the International Business College with an Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician and has been a member of the Tri-County family since November of 2014. Catie has been married to her husband, Gary, since September of 2016. Catie and Gary live in Kokomo with their two beautiful daughters. Catie is also a fur mama to three cats, Remy, Bonnie, and Lollipop and their dogs Yoshi and Winnie. Catie enjoys spending time gardening, being in the water, dominating anything Super Mario-related, and creating memories with her family!

Front Office Manager
Bree Larrick
Bree has been a member of the Animal Care field since 2016! She joined our team in March of 2025.
She is a valuable member of our team as she works as both our Front Office Manager and as a Nurse Assistant. Outside of work she enjoys walking, and spending time with her family. Bree has several pets that she lovingly refers to as her "little zoo" including 5 dogs and 8 cats.

Part Time Nurse, Part Time Hospitalist
Hailee Nolley
​Hailee has worked in the veterinary field for over a decade. She has been a valuable member of our team since August 2022. She was born and raised in Tipton County and now lives in Kokomo with her husband, Brent, and two children. Outside of work, Hailee enjoys: being in the sun, swimming, boating, hiking, and traveling. Any other time, you can find her snugged up with her two dogs, Moose and Maggie.

Surgical Assistant, Rehabilitation Coordinator
Brooklyn Garber
Brooklyn joined our team in July 2022. She has a strong passion for animals as well as client education. She is currently attending Indiana University Kokomo where she plays on their collegiate soccer team, with her twin sister, while also studying Biology with a Chemistry minor. Brooklyn plans to attend graduate school post graduation to study Veterinary Medicine with a special interest in orthopedics and rehabilitation. She is a proud dog mom to Coconut (Mini Red Heeler) and Shrimp (Mini Australian Shepherd).

Kaidence Fuller
Kaidence joined our team during the summer of '24, she has a love for animals big and small. She is currently attending Purdue University to become an RVT. She lives in Rossville with her fiance Hudson and baby, Raelynn. She loves being outside in the sun, swimming, reading a good book, and being with her family. If she's not doing any of those things you can find her spending time with her fur babies: Noel and Nash.

Mackenzie Rake
Mackenzie joined our team in October of 2025, but started her career as a Nurse Assistant in 2018. After a short sabbatical, she returned to the Veterinary field. She is currently pursuing her RVT license at Penn Foster. When she's not at work Mackenzie enjoys reading, gardening, all things outdoors: swimming, camping, hiking, bicycling, and kayaking. Mackenzie lives in Kokomo with her husband and daughter. She has two cats named Dove and Salem.

Nurse Assistant, Veterinary Medicine Student
Grace Lefler
Grace is a second year veterinary student at The University College of Dublin in Ireland. She is interested in mixed animal practice. She earned a degree in Biological and Physical Sciences from Indiana University Kokomo in 2019. She enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors. Grace’s best friend is her 9-year-old chocolate Cockapoo named Benny.

Kennel Assistant
Mea Banter
Mea joined the team January 2026. She was born and raised in Kokomo, and she has always been interested in animals. She recently graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Biology with plans to return to post graduate school after exploring more of her options. Mea enjoys drawing, crocheting, and cuddling will her pet cat: Ash.

Client Care Specialist, Nutritional Liaison
Eden Martin
Eden grew up in Macy, Indiana but currently resides in the Russiaville area with her husband.
They have two sons together: Benjamin and Levi. They also have a black lab named Ellie May.
She joined our team in the fall of 2019. Eden is one of our customer service representatives and is our go to liaison for any of your pets' dietary needs.
Some of her favorite things to do outside of work are spending time with family and friends, and scrapbooking.

Client Care Specialist
DeAnna Strange
DeAnna has 14 years of experience working in the veterinary world. She lives with her husband of 38 years, David, in Frankfort with their Goldendoodle Rylee. They enjoy taking her on walks. She enjoys spending time with her twin sons and their families. Outside of work she loves camping at the lake, and spending time with friends. She also enjoys planting flowers, swimming, and making crafts with her grandkids. She always wants to help pets get the care that they need.

Client Care Specialist
Tayler Wyrick
Tayler joined the TCVC team March of 2024. She has been married to her husband Michel and they have 3 children: Natalie, Declan, and Wrenley. Tayler enjoys being kind to others, spending time with her family and friends, riding horses, and doing anything outside when the weather is warm! She also adores her cats, Cupcake, Binx E Boy, Millie Miltred, and Cupcake Marie.
